18 months later...

Anyone still read/post here (other than Auds!)

HSO concert today went off pretty well, all things considered.  We were missing our first bassoon and first clarinet, which made for some interesting sounds (or more precisely, lack of sounds) in some of the songs.  But at least we were able to get the performance in.  Road conditions weren't too bad, either - other than the people driving stupidly slow.  At less than 40 mph on a divided 4-lane road, you're more of a hazard than the icy left lane...

Two out of three ain't too bad for NFL predictions - especially when I've watched a grand total of about 6 plays from the whole season.    Gotta love the score prediction for Baltimore-Miami, too...actual was 27-9, so I only missed by one point on each side.  Not too bad for Philly-Minnesota, either.

Ah, well.  Time to get back to work.  School starts again tomorrow, and I have two tunes to transcribe horn and/or oboe parts for saxophone.  One of them doesn't have a tuba part, either, so I'll have to rewrite the bass trombone part down an octave for my tuba player.  Yay.  Busy work.

Apparently, the HSO isn't supposed to perform the winter concert this year.  Snowed out last time...rescheduled for this weekend.  Today's gig was snowed out again.  I'm not too excited about driving to Little Falls tomorrow if the roads are still going to be ugly.  (It's still snowing, so it's quite likely that they will be...)

Football playoff predictions...
Arizona-Atlanta is already nearly done, so no prediction there.
Indianapolis at SD -- Colts 35, Chargers 17
Baltimore at Miami -- Ravens 28, Dolphins 10
Philadelphia at Minnesota -- Philly 24, Vikes 7

Welcome to Minnesota winter...

Yesterday's Heartland Symphony Orchestra concert - postponed.
Today's HSO concert - postponed.
Today's Long Prairie Chamber Orchestra/Choir performance of Messiah - even if it isn't postponed or cancelled, I'm not going to try to drive that far with snow falling sideways.

It's a good thing my first year of teaching wasn't like this one - I wouldn't be teaching any more.

The stress of this past week or so is way more than I need to deal with...fortunately, one of the major causes of the stress is no longer part of the group.  Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Now if I can just come up with a way to get the seventh and eighth grade monsters to practice their (@#$&! instruments...

Being at school until nearly 1 a.m. the night before a concert is a little ridiculous, too.  First kid that complains about something tomorrow morning is likely to have their ears scorched.
